Mezhebin kurucusu Cabir b. Zeyd'in karakteri, İbâzî mezhebi ile diğer sünnî mezhepler (Hanefî, Malikî, Şafiî, Hanbelî) arasında bir bağlantı ve benzerlik noktasını temsil etti. Bunun iki önemli nedeni vardır. Bunlardan birincisi şudur: İbâzî mezhebi, Kur'ân ile Sünnet esaslarına ve hoşgörüye dayalı olarak kurulmuştur. Öte yandan usûl (temel ve küllî meseleler) ve furû' (temelin uzantısı/dalı olan cüzî meseleler) gibi meselelerin çoğunda diğer ehl-i sünnet mezhepleriyle uyum halindedir.
