《看庄的传说》是作者杨树林继2015年在山东友谊出版社出版的《上九山的传说》之后的又一部民间故事集。看庄是山东邹城市下属的一个古老的山区乡镇，是周代柳下惠、柳下跖的故乡，是西晋竹林七贤谈玄论道的地方。这里有许多祖祖辈辈传下来的民间传说。本书作者深入乡村，搜集整理这些民间故事传说，使之保留下来，成为山东"乡村记忆"的重要组成部分。本书有30多个看庄镇独特的民间故事传说，如《六月六吃炒面》《竹林七贤的故事》《和圣柳下惠的故事》等。
